![]() Reid but I do not plan to spend much time in his airport. Now having said that, no disrespect to Mr. I had forgotten about that interaction until a few min ago when I looked up Harry Reid. I had a brief convo with him and then after my friend says to me “do you realize that guys one of the most powerful men in the country?” I knew he was a senator but didn’t know that. I knew the name Harry Reid sounded familiar and turns out I met him at an event back when I was in college, he was a very small man and his arm was in a cast and he spoke very quietly. Fun fact: I believe this is the first airport I’ve ever been to where I met the person it was named after. But nice Rocky Mountain views even from here in the aisle seat. Flight is pretty turbulent no service or anything. To me Vegas is a celebration of life, and I can’t wait to get the party started.ġ hour 22 min till Vegas. Life is great and I never think of Vegas as an “escape” so to say. The rest of my day will be much more mundane in terms of activities but will be filled with excitement like only an imminent Vegas trip can produce. I woke up this morning in my bed next to a gorgeous Japanese model. I was debating what to title this TR and Seinfeld’s most famous saying stood out perfectly – the only difference is that the way Seinfeld meant it, it was about resisting one’s urges, whereas I will be giving into all of mine. ![]() Just bear with me since I can sometimes write stuff for an audience of one: me. I also love the fact that others may enjoy the TR and I always appreciate the good luck wishes. I write these TRs for me – I love looking back on them now and I suspect that will only grow as the years go by. When my mind goes to Vegas, it goes to me walking across one of the pedestrian bridges in center Strip late at night where you look in every direction and feel like you’re in the center of the world, and I just stand to one side and look around and take a few long beautiful puffs of Mary Jane and contemplate how unfathomably fortunate I am. Of course shortly after arriving I will be proceeding to Planet 13 and purchasing some marijuana. I’m going Sunday to Friday to avoid the worst of the crowds and if I ever can’t get into a place I want, then Vegas is the world champion of cities with great second options. I intend to have a drink at one of the spots with a view but not sure exactly when. So the plan is to set my phone alarm to 5:00 or so every afternoon and when it rings, wherever I am, make my way to the nearest steakhouse. I figured what the heck, I’m unlikely to have a lot of competition at the bar early in the evening. I booked one dinner at Old Homestead and then found it very tough to make a reservation for 1. I am really feeling a lot of slots this trip, I’ve veered towards table games recently, but that’s all subject to change. I checked in just now and got the A1 boarding position so I’m pleased – arguably first win of the trip. Dunkin is closed from 2-4 AM so I have to hit it before 2, which I shall do. My flight takes off at 5:25 AM tomorrow and I always prefer having breakfast but there’s no convenient 24 hours McDonald’s near me unfortunately. And I get to see the Denver airport for the first time – I’m a semi-geek about stuff like that. No way!!! Southwest thru Denver both ways it is – and instead I get in at 10:30 AM Vegas time and leave at 2:30 PM. For flights, I had a choice between direct JetBlue flights each way but which would have me getting there at 11:30 PM Vegas time on Sunday and leaving 12:15 AM Vegas time Friday. ![]() I very much enjoyed staying at Paris last time. Just a basic room but totally free with a small amount of free play thrown in as well. Staying at Paris for the second time in a row, my host at Flamingo booked me a much better deal than I was showing online. Oh – and I haven’t mentioned this to anyone who would ever consider joining me. Two weeks ago when I realized this next week would work great for a trip, I booked immediately and have spent two glorious weeks anticipating this. Work got in the way in a mostly good way, but still was not happy about cancelling a trip. I briefly had this trip booked for the week after the Super Bowl to catch an emptier period. I’m sure that makes me sound like a selfish asshole but everyone knows what I’m talking about. But as far as totally solo trips – trips in which I do not have to plan based on anyone else’s schedule, consult with anyone else on their preferences, wait for anyone else to finish up, compromise on whatever dumb decision I want to make that moment – it has been a while. For most trips in which I’m going with someone, I’ll tack on solo days on the front or back end. There are very few things I love more in life than going to Las Vegas solo.
